Wicker Dog Beds

People who love country warmth and charm in their decorating scheme should consider a wicker bed for their dog. They are hand-woven, so special care must be taken when selecting this product for a dog.

Tightness of weave may vary greatly. One style may be so tightly woven as to be almost solid, while another style may be very loosely woven, with open gaps in the looser woven style. Whichever style is used, it should be done correctly with no protruding ends to hurt the dog. The products weave should be continuous, with the ends woven down into the weave line.

Simplicity is not synonymous with wicker dog beds anymore. The simple country style wicker basket is still the most popular style, but now these products can be very elaborate. The bed itself is usually found in natural, woody looking colors. White is another easily found color in wicker. Optionally, if the buyer wants to pay the extra cost it can actually be finished in any color desired.

Size of the bed is determined of course by the size of the dog it is meant for. The inside of the bed should be one size larger than the dog. To clarify that statement—the dog should be able to turn a complete circle comfortably in his bed before he lies down. By giving him that much extra space, his comfort is guaranteed.

Inside the bed is a comfortable pillow for the dog to lie on. The most popular pillows are filled with a poly-fil x cedar mixture. Cedar is added to the poly-fil because it deodorizes the dog bed and also repels fleas and other insects. Fabric color and material options vary from very economical to very expensive.

In today’s recession, cost is always an important factor in any purchase. Wicker dog beds are very reasonably priced. Simple styles for extra small and small dogs often are priced below $20.00. Large simple styles may often be found under $100.00.
